TK Maxx beauty haul

Hey guys

It's been ages since I've done a haul (and not because I haven't been shopping...) so I thought it's about time I did one!

Recently I visited TK Maxx and managed to find some good deals. I know people often rave about the bargains they've bought from TK Maxx but I must admit I'm not really one for TK Maxx. A shop where everything is technically all on sale should be my idea of heaven but I have to be in a particular mood for TK Maxx and even then I normally just make it as far as the beauty and accessories section and then I'm done.

My first buy was a 7 piece bamboo brush set by Japonesque for £12.99. I've never tried this range or heard of it so it's a bit of a risk but I have previously used bamboo brushes and have found them to be good and super soft so I'm hoping these are too. This set contains a powder brush, foundation brush, eye shadow brush, concealer brush, angled liner brush, eye shadow crease brush and a lash & brow comb.

The rest of my buys were (predictably) for my nails. I must admit they aren't really autumn shades but when I was buying them I was in denial. (Yes I'm a beauty blogger who hasn't been excitedly waiting for autumn).

I picked 3 Revlon nail polishes and a Nails Inc polish.

 These were £2.99 each.

The Revlon polish was £3.99 and the Nails Inc polish was £4.99.

I also then picked up a glossy top coat and a matte top coat. I have heard good things about Orly topcoats but didn't fancy paying £11.50 each for them so when I saw that these were £3.99 each I quickly picked them up. And conveniently, I had run out of both type of topcoats so for once I bought things I actually needed!

I hope you've enjoyed reading my haul. If you've recently splurged as well do let me know! I need people to make me feel less guilty about my buys... haha

January favourites

Hey guys!

So January is over so of course I have to do a summary of my favourites for this month.

I have so many!!! As many of you guys out there, I'm sure January resulted in doing a lot more shopping than usual... so it's been difficult to try and narrow down my selection so this post doesn't get too long and boring.

Nail Art collection

Predictably, one of my favourites is nail related.
This first item, like most of my purchases, was not planned. I walked into TK Maxx looking to buy new gym gear but I wandered over to the beauty section. I had already resisted buying stuff from this section a couple of months ago and I think I wanted to convince myself that there was nothing there to buy. Most of the appealing stuff had items missing or had spilt or otherwise defected. I was on my way downstairs when this packet with the title 'Nail Art' caught my eye. I couldn't walk away from that now could I?

It contains 7 polishes and 1 sealer. The reason why I really like this is because it allows me to create intricate designs which I can't always do with striping tape. It does take a bit of practice especially when it comes to using my left hand to paint my right hand but practice makes perfect!

Real Technique brushes

I finally jumped on the bandwagon and bought myself some real technique brushes. I decided to buy a set from amazon because I don't like buying individual brushes as I find it can be quite expensive ( and these were also on offer).

I bought the Core collection set containing a detailer brush, pointed foundation brush, buffing brush and contour brush. My favourite is the detailer brush as it's great for highlighting my eyebrows.
These brushes are so soft and great at applying the make up evenly.
I also love that the case doubles up as a stand!

Trainers

The next favourite is a pair of trainers. I was getting tired of my gym shoes so I said I would get myself a new pair of trainers which would also help motivate me.
I searched everywhere and finally found a pair from Sports Direct.

I love that they're pink and purple especially as purple is my favourite colour! They make my gym outfit that bit more interesting and a bit more girly! They're also really comfortable which is important for any shoes but especially shoes being worn during exercise. They seem durable and I'm sure these shoes will last me a long time.

Any.do

My last favourite is a new app I discovered on my tablet. As a student, it's important to be organised. Along with everybody else I made the 'resolution' of trying to get more organised. I'm actually quite organised but when things get busy it's easy for things to slip my mind. So when browsing the Google Play Store as I do when I'm bored, I came across the Any.do app.

When the reminder comes up you can't miss it. You can decide to tick that you've done it, dismiss it (not really a good idea), or snooze it for 15 mins, 3 hours, or even to the next day. You could be like me and snooze it until you finally get around to doing it...

Another great thing about this app is that you can synchronise your account between different devices. So I can download it on my iPhone (or another android device if you have one) as well which results in me being reminded twice, so you basically don't have an excuse anymore for forgetting.

That rounds up my favourites for January. What have been your January favourites? Do let me know, or leave your links below as I would love to see them!

Mani Monday

Hey Guys

Happy manicure monday!

These are the colours I used to create this week's nails.

nail polish maybelline collection

As you can tell, the one on the left is pretty old. The writing is rubbing off. It's from collection 2000 and the other one is from Maybelline's color show range which I did a review of once upon a time ago!

striping tape nail art manicure monday

Another simple design but I think sometimes with striping tape less is more. Leaves it looking more elegant.
Unfortunately my thumbnail has broken leaving my nails a bit uneven but hopefully it'll grow back soon!
What do you guys think? Any of you obsessed with nail art like me? Leave your links below, I'd love to see them!

Sally Hansen Stash

Hey guys

I've heard a lot about Sally Hansen nail polishes but as I'm trying to save money I wasn't keen on buying them from Superdrug or Boots as it's a bit more than I wanted to spend.
So I went to eBay and found a UK seller who was selling a few Sally Hansen polishes for £2. Of course it wasn't the full range Boots and Superdrug offer but they had a few and for £2 and £2.50 so I can't really complain.
I bought 6...

Four of them are the sugar coat effect (at £2.49) which is different to any kind of nail polishes I own which is why I felt the need to buy 4...

I'm not sure if you can truly see the effect from the picture and I'm not quite sure how to describe what it looks like. It's a bit like pavement and it does look a bit sugary; hence its name.

The salon manicure polishes (at £2) aren't textured or have any special effects but they're good quality and don't require many coats.

So far I'm impressed with these polishes. They last and haven't chipped or peeled and the bottle is a decent size so I'm happy to say it was a great purchase. To be totally honest they probably are worth the money drugstores sell them but I like to save money where I can (whilst still spending money... I have a problem I know and I'm working on it...)

Have any of you tried these polishes?

What do you think of them?
